3 Tables to match last issue’s chair workshops MODERN SIDE TABLE In April we featured three chair styles, simply made. Here are some table ideas to go with them. The chair was cut from PVA plumbers pipe, 42 mm diameter. While ferreting around the plumbers scrap heap a smaller diameter pipe was also snaffled up. It was a good idea. The other option, which works just as well, was to make the chair from a toilet roll center. The table could also be cut from a more narrow cardboard roll. Cut the smaller PVA pipe (35 mm) so the height is 5 cm. Give it a light sand and then paint it with an off white aerosol spray can. The top was a pre-cut wooden disc available at craft shops but could equally be three layers of card punched out with a 50 mm punch. The top layer is red card. Put glue around the rim of the base and center the top onto it. Note: this pipe can be cut easily with a hacksaw or on a cross cut saw if you have access to one. If using a cross cut saw, hold the pipe firmly against the back of the bed and bring the saw down to the pipe from above rather than approaching it from the front. Give yourself a decent length of pipe to work with. It is more safe that way. Miniature Time Traveller Magazine Issue #18 11
