Miniature Time Traveller Magazine Issue #18 13 For a kitchen table to go with the modern kitchen chairs the discarded rolls from an Eftpos machine are ideal legs. These are ridged. Some are smooth. (You could use 10 mm dowel instead.) I get the a local winery to save these for me but your favourite café might do it as well, if you ask nicely. Everyone likes to recycle. These were sprayed with a chrome aerosol but they could be rubbed with a silver wax or painted with acrylic paint. Cutting guide: The top is 11 x 6 cm MDF 5 mm thick The base 10 x 5 cm is MDF 10 mm thick* *This gives a better depth to stabilize the legs once they are glued in. The top conceals the tops of the legs. 1. Drill four holes in the base the same diameter as your legs. These were centered 1 cm or 1.5 cm from edges. 2. Paint the top. 3. Paint the base. Take time with this painting as the finish is really important. There were three coats and a lot of sanding between them before a final clear coat of acrylic. Do not paint where you will be gluing them together. 4. Glue them together, centering the base underneath the top. A kitchen table made from scraps! (Well, repurposed bits) The unpainted Eftpos roll is shown for interest only
