Place on fold of a piece of tracing paper, cut out and glue to the roll before cutting the roll. Miniature Time Traveller Magazine Issue #18 14 A JUMPER TO GET YOU JUMPING Materials: Pair of 9.5 needles 2 ply yarn in four colours The back/front is knitted in one piece. All ends are knitted in as the work progresses. Main body: Cast on 36 st. Rib 6 rows. Change to stocking stitch and knit until work measures 3.5cm. Change to 2nd colour. At the same time start the first row in this colour by casting off 5 stitches at beginning on next two rows. (26 st.) Knit 8 rows in this colour. Change to 3rd colour. Knit 8 rows. Change to 4th colour. Knit 8 rows. In the same colour rib 3 rows. Still in rib, work 4 stitches then cast off the center stitches until 4 stitches left on needle. Turn, work 4 stitches and then cast on 18 stitches and work until end of row. (26st) Rib 3 more rows. Change to s.s. Knit 8 rows. Change back to 3rd colour. Knit 8 rows. Change to 2nd colour. Knit 8 rows. NOW DON’T FORGET to cast on 5 stitches each end of the last two rows of this colour. It is really annoying to find ten rows later that you have forgotten to do this. Believe me! Continue on main colour until 3 cm is worked in this colour. Rib the final 6 rows and cast off. Sleeves: Using 4th colour, pick up 38 stitches between the armholes, making sure 19 lie either side of the center shoulder point. Knit 6 rows. Change to 3rd colour. Decrease 1 stitch each end of next and every 4th row, and knit 6 rows in this colour. Change to the 2nd colour. (Remember to decrease) Knit 6 rows in this colour. Change to main colour and continue decreasing each end of 6th row until 24 st. remain. Knit until work measures 3.5 cm from shoulder. On last row of stocking stitch decrease every 4th st until 20 st. remain. Rib 6 rows. Cast off. Sewing up: First, with right sides facing sew the sleeve armhole to the armhole decrease. Do each one separately, 4 times in all. Inset the top stripe of sleeves, into the armhole decreases when sewing up. Now sew up the sides and sleeve underarm seam. Sew in any loose ends. Press with a steam iron. Note: When fitting onto a doll, the neckline is generous as it has to cope with different sized heads. If needed a few stitches on either side once the jumper is on the doll will make it sit better. (Mine seem to sit ok without doing this.) These can be removed if the jumper needs to be taken off.
