www.miniaturetimetraveller.com Miniature Time Traveller Magazine Issue #18 5 I glued popsicle sticks to the back, made and added the ¼ round shelving for the end, and finished the piece with various wood trims. I used Karen Walker test pots for the painted pieces – I love their soft chalky finish. I was so pleased with the result – don’t you love it when the finished article is better than you hoped. The pictures and French house numbers were sourced from the internet, printed, glued to card and finished with a dimensional glaze. I made the white daisy bush and hydrangea from scratch, the rest of the plants are silk and plastic concoctions, the lilac was a gift. The fox fur and dressmaker’s dummy were made in workshops tutored by Rio Cox. The French door/table and mirror, the hat boxes, storage boxes, hares, three-tier tray in the window and the lovely little paper sacks and wooden pegs are laser cut kitsets from artofminis.com , Germany. An invitation to travel with my family to Florida made possible a visit to Ron’s Miniatures in Orlando. The choice there was overwhelming. Finally, the Ni-Glo lamp, cane back chair and two brass instruments were chosen. 18 months later an unexpected opportunity came to travel to the UK. By then the shop was well on the way to being finished. I had re-visited my stash and found several lovely pieces from previous Conventions. A chandelier was the only definite on the shopping list. The rest fell into the “I will know it when I see it” category. We all have those, don’t we? A visit to the York Fair, several visits to Kristin Baybars at Gospel Oak (only a short train ride away from my granddaughter’s flat in Kensal Rise where I was staying), and two other shops introduced by UK friends meant that the bank balance took a hit.
