James was James VI of Scotland (Queen Mary of Scotland’s son) who became James I of England 1567-1603 Charles I was King of England, King of Scotland, and King of Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution in 1649. Wikipedia Quite some time ago the Palmerston North club put together a challenging project for members. Each were given a photocopy of an old painting and asked to reproduce it in miniature. Verna was very relieved to be given the ‘Children of Charles I of England.’ She thought this was manageable! She set the scene very carefully. The painting on the rear wall was painted by Verna on a brown paper bag as she felt it gave the right antique look. The wall hanging of the coat of arms was an image printed onto fabric and then made into a hanging by Verna. The table setting was again, all her creation. The bible, the King James bible, wasn’t in the original painting but Verna thought it just had to be included. The bible was made by a Christchurch miniaturist who had her books for sale at the NZAME conventions. She had been a book binder and had transferred her talents to miniatures. Unfortunately Verna couldn’t give her name. King James was an enlightened man who sponsored the translation of the bible into English, the King James Bible. It was commissioned in 1603 and completed and published by 1611. It forms the basis of the bible we are familiar with today. The children of King Charles
