Miniature Time Traveller Issue 1

It takes a lot of time and effort to organize a show as large as this and the indefatigable ladies and their husbands of the Nelson club are to be heartedly commended on the result. Also very popular among the many children that came along was the ‘Count the Elf’ competition where a lot of the displays had an elf in a red suit hiding out, some in plain view. The children got a clip board and pen and a competition entry and many came back with impressive results. ‘Paint a rock’ was also a very popular workshop for the children. Six beautifully painted rocks were also secreted in a nearby park and the finder got a free entry into the hall for themselves and an adult. Only two were handed in, and the finders could keep them. So there would be some very astonished snails and wildlife in the park that night if they came across the remainder. Maria Gallen from the LHMM, Petone, did one of the workshops, outside chairs cleverly made from card. These are great sprayed with shiny acrylic spray and look good with outdoor umbrellas. Left: Mary Saxton of Richmond gave us a taste of Spring with her Flower Shop. The displays were many and varied. People came to view and stayed and stayed!
