Miniature Time Traveller 25 Ceiling treatment On the dining room side tissue paper was glued to the ceiling which had been previously painted cream. Embossed squares were then glued over this, once it was dry, and then finished oƯ with gold stickers. The other side, the drawing room, was diƯerent. The basic colour remained the same but other stickers were placed for eƯect. It hardly has to be said that no one is going to stand on their head to see this ceiling but I know it has been detailed. Using tissue paper on the dining room ceiling (right) seemed a good idea at the time but it wrinkled on top of the glue. However, it wrinkled fairly evenly and looks a bit like ruched silk, so it will stay, a hidden reminder to me to experiment on a small piece first! Wallpapering Some thought had to go into this as the original walls on the drawing room were a bit marked and tatty. Some paper was printed out and a start was made to paper around the room. This is working out well. A piece of scalloped lace makes a good decorative ceiling moulding which will be capped with a wooden one. Curtains. A first attempt. Out came the stash of material and lace and a set of curtains were made. These were threaded onto a narrow piece of dowel. A central curved drop was made by gluing the material onto a half diameter cardboard shape. Some overlap of material left at the top was folded over the dowel and fixed into place. The dowel was threaded through two eyelets at each end of a scrap piece of wood which in it’s turn, was glued to the wall. Not too bad for a first eƯort! iniature Time Traveller
