18 Miniature Time Traveller It is good to keep a record of anything that came with kits. Most of the materials in this list have been ticked oƯ by me. There are several sheets on the Exterior Side walls, making window frames and a bay window. Even a quite detailed drawing on making the front door. Back to the problem of the staircase. In a plan, also from a kit from the Little Dollhouse Company, it shows a central hall and staircase. This is what I want? Can I realistically achieve this? I suspect the unknown miniaturist also had this dilemma. Another look at the existing ground and first floors and it looks like I could reverse them and have a double front opening across one of the side wings and the front and a smaller one on the other side wing. A bit fiddly but doable. If I do this I will keep the back of the house plain. A start has been made on painting the window frames and the doors. However, there is a heat wave operating at the moment and my workshop in the garage is absolutely baking so progress has ground to a halt. The next big thing is to cut a additional base that turns the house into an oblong for easier management. Some framing will have to be made to swing the doors oƯ, and internal partitions have to be made. Four of these at last count, on the ground floor. The page has been turned so the layout is more evident. Can I be really cheeky and turn the floor plan around so I can have a front opening house? At the moment the two wings are set back from the front façade. I really want the staircase to be seen rising from the front hall. Every doll house deserves a strong stable base and as the ply wood kit set one had the wobbles it has been glued and screwed to another flat piece of ply wood.
